How to become a male model

How to become a male model

I have been thinking what are the standards for male modelling, most people know about female models and how they should look like and what they should do.

but what about men? what are the industry standards?

-Hight should be between 5,11″ and 6,2″

-age is not very crucial when it comes to male models unlike female models who are out of work by the age of 25

male models still can find jobs in their 50s

-although weight should be between 140 and 165 but it actually depends on your body mass index “BMI”

-and should be around 40-42R long

-now they don’t prefer overly hairy men in the chest and the arms area, if you are planning to do so… Happy waxing.

now we covered the physical requirements, what else?

basically models needs to know how to pose , how to control their bodies and faces, an acting class to train yourself wouldn’t hurt

but basically you need to know how to walk , stand, give face, and do any modelling related poses.

to know exactly what do you need to enhance, you need to know what do you need to do in the field and the options are :

Fashion models : promote clothing and apparel.

High fashion models :  work with the famous fashion houses or designers.

Editorial models  : only work for certain publications.

Runway models : work at fashion shows.

Showroom models : display clothing at fashion parties or boutiques.

Commercial print models : are photographed for magazines, newspapers, billboards and other print ad materials.

Catalogue models : are hired to appear in catalogues.

Promotional models : work in conventions or trade shows.

Specialty models : specialise one part of their body such as hands, legs, neck, hair or feet.

Character models : are used to portray ordinary people.

Glamour modelling : focuses more on the model than the actual product.

after you decide where are you heading you need to prepare three things :

a portfolio

contacts and some exposure

and to sign with an agent
